Apple launches iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Apple has unveiled two new iPhones today, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. With the launch of iPhone 5S, Apple has discontinued the iPhone 5(not in India yet as new iPhone is not yet available here) that was rolled out last year.

Let’s take a look at both iPhone 5S & 5C one by one.

iPhone 5S

It is the new premium device with very little new innovation for which apple is known. The iPhone 5S has a 4-inch 1136×640pixel IPS display, which is identical to the current iPhone 5. What’s new in the  iPhone 5S is: a faster processor, improved camera, colour additions(gold) and a fingerprint scanner.

According to Apple, it’s the “most forward-thinking phone we’ve ever created.”

The most important improvement in it is the A7 chip, a 64-bit desktop-class architecture which is the first ever of its kind in a smartphone and is twice as fast as previous processors in performing tasks and rendering graphics which makes it truly a computer shrunk to a 102mm size.

The new GPU supports OpenGL 3.0, which is one of the newest frameworks for 3D games (which also recently came to Android 4.3).

Another most important addition to the device is a digital fingerprint scanner and is inbuilt into home button. Called Touch ID, “it reads your fingerprint at an entirely new level,” with 500ppi resolution and 360 degree readability.

It can be used to unlock iPhone. Apple says Touch ID has been deeply integrated into iOS 7. All fingerprint information is encrypted and stored on the chip itself. Touch ID can also be used as a secure way to approve purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store. It allows you to authenticate purchases using just a slight depression of the home button. There is a sapphire crystal lens that takes a photo of a user’s fingerprint and analyses it for consistency.

The camera is also improved with an 8MP camera, which comes with dual-LED flash. The camera's  15% larger active sensor area than that of its predecessor and offers better low-light performance.

Apple claims that this phone's camera can take 20 photos in two seconds, features auto image stabilization new burst mode at up to 10fps. The software analyses multi-photo series and chooses the best one(similar to Best Shot from the HTC One and Galaxy S4) and can records 720p videos at 120 frames per second (which is the highest for any smartphone). 1080p videos are recorded at 30fps.

iPhone 5S also has an all-new M7 chip that tracks motion data without waking the A7 chip and interacts with health apps to give fitness data. However, Apple claimed the two-chip system does not affect battery life of the device, which promises 10 hours of battery life from LTE browsing and 3G talk time, along with 40 hours of music playback and a staggering 250 hours of standby. 

The iPhone 5S comes in a new gold colour, in addition to the existing white and slate.

Availability

Pre-order for the iPhone 5C will begin on the 13th while the iPhone 5S can be booked starting from the 20th. iPhone 5S(with contract) will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB model. The 16, 32 and 64GB unlocked variants have been priced in the US at a hefty $649, $749 and $849, respectively.

In first phase, iPhone 5S will start retailing in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK on September 20.

iPhone 5C

There is not much in the iPhone 5C to say and looks as if iPhone 5 has been packed in new design on seeing it specs, it is have most specs same as older iPhone 5 with just new iOS7, a new HD FaceTime camera on the front  & polycarbonate body instead of aluminium body. Rest is all same as iPhone 5, a 4-inch display with 1136×640 pixel resolution, A6 chip and 1GB of RAM & an 8MP iSight camera on the back with BSI, IR filter and 5-element lens. 

Connectivity options in the new handset include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi  and will be available in green, yellow, blue, white and red colour.

It looks as if iPhone 5 coming with new design & and a name change iPhone 5C.

Availability

The 16GB variant of this smartphone will cost $99 on two-year contract, while the 32GB version has been priced at $199. The unlocked 16 and 32GB versions of the iPhone 5C have been priced at $549 and $649, respectively. The company also announced cases in six colours for this handset, which will cost $29 a piece.

Lava launches Lava Iris 356 and Iris 402 Officially

Lava today on 14th Aug launched two new entry-level 3G handsets - the Lava Iris 356 and Lava Iris 402 with a price tag of Rs 4,499 and Rs 5,499, respectively. Earlier, Lava had quietly listed both these smartphones on its website and now, the phones have been officially launched by them. With this launch Lava heats up the entry-level 3G smartphone, mostly dominated by likes of: Micromax, Karbonn. 

Lava Iris 356

The Lava Iris 356 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Mediatek 6572 Cortex A7 processor with 256MB RAM and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The phone has a 3.5-inch HVGA display with screen resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It includes just 100MB of internal storage space (available to the user) which is quite low, but supports memory expandable upto 32GB by microSD. The phone is packed with a 1500 mAh battery that the company claims to deliver up to 5 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. It supports dual SIM (GSM+GSM).

Lava Iris 402

On the other hand, the Lava Iris 402 holds a slightly bigger display. It has a 4-inch WVGA display with screen resolution 480x800 pixels. The phone sports a 3MP rear camera with flash and a 1.3MP front facing camera. The Phone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 256MB RAM and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It comes with 100MB (user available) internal storage which is a quite disappointing as not much apps can be loaded. It's also a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) phone.

Connectivity: Bluetooth with A2DP Support, Wi-Fi 802.11 g/b/n, USB, WAP/GPRS/EDGE/3G. The Lava Iris 402 comes with a 1500mAh battery with up to 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.

Lava claims that both the smartphones will be upgradable over-the-air (OTA).

Availability:

The handsets are available for sale across all national retail stores, multi-brand outlets across India and leading online stores.

At one end both the phone looks same in specification except the screen size and design. The storage of both the phone is quite very low.Whether these two phones from Lava make a dent in the entry-level 3G handsets market or not is yet to see.

Apple to Announce iPhone 5S On September 10

Apple's iPhone launch is the most anticipated tech event, and it is creating a lot of Buzz right now in the Tech corridor. Apple will be hosting an event on September 10 to unveil the iPhone 5S, according to All Things D (a blog that has a solid track record for reporting inside Apple information). The release date is the most recent, and probably one of the most accurate.

Apple is also reported to be working on a smart-watch and a TV, but neither of those products are expected to be ready for next month's event.

The new iPhone will run iOS 7, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, which includes new typography, redesigned icons and a new color palette.

As the time of launch comes close, the rumors around the next iPhone are continuously increasing. Here's a roundup of some of the rumors making around the next iPhone, but that doesn't mean all of them turn out to be accurate.

Read on to find out some of the rumors making around the next iPhone.

• The new phone will be called iPhone 5S and will keep the same design as the current iPhone 5. 

• The company will also roll out a cheaper version of the iPhone, especially for the sale in emerging markets; it will cost $99 and will come in five or six different colors, according to Reuters.

• There may be at least one larger iPhone model, with a 4.7-inch screen, a 5.7-inch screen, or both to compete with big-screen rivals.

• The new phone will have a fingerprint scanner for added security and other uses. It will be in the home button of the device.

• It will have a faster processor, longer battery life, improved camera and an increase in the screen contrast. 

• Apple could improve the microphones in the iPhone so that Siri detects human voice better and call quality and audio on videos is improved.

It is yet to see what Apple comes out with at the launch and the rumors can be officially confirmed then only. Though as is the case with our list of Unofficial Specification of Moto X which we posted before official launch came out to be true with launch of Moto X. This time also we will try our best to bring you with confirmed spec’s sheet before the iPhone launch.

Motorola launches Moto X for $199

Motorola on Thursday unveiled its’ much anticipated Moto X which was created lot of buzz recently. A smartphone that consumers can personalise from the front to the back, to the accents, the wallpaper, the memory, and even a short message. The phone's customization options are a novel touch which may appeal to people.

Though the Spec’ Sheet of Moto X look good with average hardware specifications but not unto that mark which was expected from Google. It is also to be noted that the Moto X does not include the newest version of Android. Noting that the newer 4.3 version of Android was only made available last week. The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass for the screen and the internals are have a water-repellent coating, which should make the phone safe to use in the rain. The phone will be available for purchase on all carriers,at motorola.com. It would become available in Canada, Latin America and United States around the same time. The Moto X will go on sale at the end of August or the beginning of September for $199 (16GB) or $249 (32GB) (locked with a two-year contract with any of the AT&T, Verizon, Sprint ,U.S. Cellular and T-Mobile ). Motorola said it has yet to decide a price for unlocked version.

US mobile service provider, will let its customers customize the phone from a selection of 18 colours for the back, 2 for the front and 7 accent colours for an undisclosed time period. While AT&T will allow customers to customize their phones, rivals Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile US and US Cellular will only be able to offer black-and-white versions of the device.Motorola had promised the delivery of customised phones within four days.

Rick Osterloh, Motorola's V.P. for product management, said consumers have shown that they are interested in putting their personal stamp on a phone, seen in the popularity of phone cases featuring various colours and sparkly surfaces. Motorola is still working out which wood to use, he said. Because different woods "respond differently" to radio signals.

In addition to design changes such as a curved back and the choice of colours, the phone's key features are found in its camera and it response to your voice, no touching necessary interface.

Nokia Unveils Lumia 625

Nokia had announced the launch of Nokia Lumia 625 that comes with a large 4.7-inch super- LCD screen , biggest seen screen on any Nokia phones with 4G connectivity and is coming to India in Q3 of 2013 for around Rs 17317.

The Nokia Lumia 625 includes five brightly coloured changeable shells, so you can change back cover according to your mood. It is powered by the latest version of Windows Phone 8 and including the Nokia Lumia Amber update. Windows Phone 8 also includes Xbox Live, Microsoft Office, and 7GB of online SkyDrive storage to simply make life easier. The Nokia Lumia 625 also offers SD memory card support, allowing up to 64GB of additional content storage.

The Nokia Lumia 625 also include a integrated camera applications like Nokia Smart Camera, offering handy features like removing unwanted objects from pictures, and Nokia Cinemagraph, which turns photos into living memories with added movement.

LG send Invites to Unveil G2 on August 7th

LG is sending invites for an event of its upcoming flagship phone the LG G2. The invitation shows off an outline of the phone.  The event is set for 7^th August at 11:00 am in New York. This will be the first “G” branded device, which is the name for their new premium device line-up.

The G2 is expected to have a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and Android 4.2.2. It is also said to sport a backside touch control, a first of its kind in smartphone industry.

The invite also gives compliment to the phone saying, “To me, you are perfect.” The invitation also says that “we are learning from you” which suggests that LG might be listening to what consumers wants and then designing its products based on that, a somewhat same approach as that of Google to its new Moto X.

It looks trend is changing quickly from manufacturer chosen spec’s to consumer chosen spec’s for there smartphone and it is good for consumers.

Motorola to launch Moto X on August 1

Motorola now a Google Division Looks all set to Launch Moto X Phone. As it has starting sending invitation for a special media conference to be held on 1 August in New York.

Email invitations sent to the media displayed the Moto X name in bold letters. The invitation shows youths holding the Moto X; one in Black and other in White colour. It is the first smartphone Motorola has developed since its 2012 acquisition by Google for $12.5 billion.

It looks as Motorola is Launching its new device Moto X without any Stage or Crowd, as the Web page to respond to the invitation said, "Come experience the new Motorola. No Stage. No crowds." The page also asks to select one from the several "sessions" to attend at different times at an address in mid-town Manhattan.

From the information that has so far leaked around the web  it look as Moto X is equipped with the following features:

Processor: 1.7GHz MSM8960T Snapdragon dual-core processor
